Industrial Vacuum Pump Applications and Selection
Select an industrial vacuum system by the required working vacuum, pumping capacity at that pressure, gas or vapor composition, moisture, temperature and operating environment. Evacuating a vessel and maintaining a continuous gas load are different duties. Pipework, condensation and operating cycles also affect the configuration to evaluate. Use the process requirements to review the existing Vacuum Pump category; a product name or ultimate vacuum figure alone cannot confirm system suitability.
Typical application conditions
Industrial vacuum duties can involve initial evacuation, continuous gas removal or vapor-containing processes. These are general process conditions, not HENVO customer case studies.
- Evacuating a vessel: State vessel volume, initial pressure, target pressure and required evacuation time.
- Maintaining a process vacuum: Describe the continuing gas load, expected leakage and changing demand at the required working pressure.
- Handling gas with vapor or moisture: Identify the vapor, possible condensation, entrained liquid and contaminants so separation and handling requirements can be reviewed.
- Repeated or continuous operation: Explain cycle frequency, duty duration, ambient conditions and available utilities.
Define the vacuum duty
Compare pumping capacity at the required operating vacuum and for the actual gas conditions. Keep the pressure reference and measurement conditions explicit.
- Required vacuum: Provide the pressure and units; state whether the value is absolute pressure or a gauge reading.
- Pumping capacity: State capacity at the required pressure and the conditions used for the value. For pump-down duty, also provide volume and time.
- Gas or vapor: Identify composition, condensable vapor, corrosive constituents and any particles.
- Moisture and liquid carryover: Describe expected liquid, condensation and available separation or discharge handling.
- Temperature: Include inlet-gas temperature, process variation and relevant service-fluid conditions.
- Installation and duty: Provide suction pipe layout, operating cycle, environment, utilities and control requirements.
Evaluate the existing vacuum pump category
The current category contains different series and configurations. Review their published data against the complete process instead of assuming that every vacuum pump serves the same duty.

- Liquid-ring configurations may be evaluated where their gas-handling and service-liquid requirements fit the process. Confirm working vacuum, capacity and the complete installation for the selected series.
Use the vacuum selection guide
The vacuum guide provides a structured route from pressure and gas load to configuration review. The general guide helps organize the wider process and installation information.
Engineering background
These sources explain general selection principles. HENVO product facts come from the linked HENVO product pages; application guidance does not certify a product for a particular process.
Representative HENVO products
These existing product pages provide configurations to investigate. Confirm the complete duty and compatibility before treating any product as a selection.
Buyer questions
Use these answers to prepare the information needed for a configuration review.
What information is needed to select a vacuum pump?
Provide required working vacuum, capacity at that pressure, gas or vapor composition, moisture, temperature and operating cycle. Include the suction layout and available utilities.
Why does the required vacuum level matter?
Pumping capacity must be evaluated at the working pressure. An ultimate vacuum value alone does not show whether the pump can handle the required process load.
How do gas and vapor conditions affect selection?
Composition, condensation, moisture and contaminants can change material, separation and gas-handling requirements. Review them for the complete configuration.
Is vessel evacuation the same as continuous vacuum duty?
No. Pump-down duty needs volume, starting and target pressures, and evacuation time. Continuous duty needs the gas load at the required working pressure.
Can I select a vacuum pump by motor power alone?
No. Motor power does not establish the required working vacuum, capacity or compatibility with the process gas. Use the full duty information.
What if only a gauge vacuum reading is available?
Provide the reading, units and pressure reference, plus measurement conditions where known. Clarify the pressure basis before comparing product data.
